Scholarships for TIC Americas Finalists at Kookmin University Boot Camp in South Korea

Washington DC, April 17, 2017 - The Young Americas Business Trust, the Department of Human Development, Education and Employment (DDHEE) of the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States, and Kookmin University will offer a scholarship program to participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Boot Camp 2017 in Seoul, South.

The DDHEE, through its Partnership for Education Program, aims to increase access to quality education and continuing learning opportunities for all. On this occasion the DDHEE and YABT have decided to join forces with Kookmin University to offer scholarships for qualified candidates from the Americas to participate in the Kookmin Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp K-GEB program in South Korea.

This opportunity will be offered to the finalists of the XII edition of the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas), within the framework of the benefits of the YABT International Accelerator. This year the competition had 3,491 teams and 4,679 entrepreneurs participate from 40 countries. Following a rigorous evaluation process developed by international judges, the top 30 teams were selected to participate in the finals and will be announced next Saturday, April 15.

TIC Americas started in 2007 by the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT). This program has established itself as a global platform of support and business accelerator for young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 34, citizens of the Member States of the Organization of American States (OAS).

The largest asset of the program is its portfolio of registered ventures. With 16,115 proposals and 34,400 registered entrepreneurs from 48 countries, in the 11 editions executed to date.

TIC Americas provides guidance, training, mentoring, seed capital and investment, as well as access to an international network of contacts. Regardless of the business model or solution, this program is designed to support entrepreneurs in their development.

Thus, the Kookmin University Boot Camp Scholarship Program is an opportunity to further support young entrepreneurs seeking to develop and grow their business skills and global networking. It should be noted  that not all entrepreneurship ideas will be developed and only those ideas selected by Kookmin University will be worked on.

The program will include 8 scholarships: 4 full scholarships and 4 partial scholarships for young people up to 29 years of age to enter the 4-week course (with an option of a  5th week at the student’s expense) in South Korea in July 2017. The course is taught in English and requires a high degree of language management (100% ability to do presentations in English).
