As part of the IV Young Americas Forum, young people will be invited to be part around 12 national dialogues in the month of November and will take place in countries like El Salvador, Colombia, Venezuela, and Argentina;
The Forum was created ten years ago by the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), becoming an official space for youth to actively participate in the process of the Summits of the Americas. The Forum allows young people, in their role as Social Actors, submit recommendations and proposals to the leaders of the continent, contributing in this way to the definition and implementation of the priorities and mandates for the Member States of the OAS.
The IV edition of the Young Americas Forum will focus their on-site and virtual consultations on the central theme of the VII Summit of the Americas: "Prosperity with Equity: The Challenge of Cooperation in the Americas". The subthemes derived are: decent employment, security, education, migration, health, among others.
The consultation process to the IV Young Americas Forum is aimed at young people between 18 and 30 years old. The process has defined three channels of participation: Hemispheric On-site Dialogues, regional, local or national, organized in collaboration with partners and youth organizations with impact on the issues of the VII Summit of the Americas. It is expected that more than 500 young people participate in the first round of Dialogues.
Another channel are the Virtual Consultations that complement the others using the Summits Virtual Community (SVC) and Virtual Community YABTLinks.net, added to an electronic questionnaire for greater representation of youth in the continent.
The third channel are the Extended Consultations, through participation in high-level meetings of the OAS and other international organizations. It also includes key activities in the Member States of the OAS, joining forces with other civil society actors who share the aims of the Young Americas Forum.
YABT will inform about countries that also will develop similar Dialogues and activities related with the Forum in the second round. Those interested in learning more about the program, may enter: http://www.yabt.net/foro/.
