Washington, DC, September 01, 2017 - The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), PepsiCo, Postobón and the Organization of American States (OAS), are pleased to announce the opening of the registration period for the XIII Edition of the Competition of Talent and Innovation of the Americas (TIC Americas 2018) and Eco-Challenge 9.0.
At this time, young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 34 who are citizens of OAS Member States have the opportunity to present an idea or project based in innovative solutions with a business, environmental or social lens.
This year, TIC Americas has two awards categories: Startup Challenge and Eco-Challenge. Further categories or special recognitions will be announced in the near future. The Startup Challenge award will consider innovative models developed by young entrepreneurs with a focus on the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The Eco-Challenge 9.0 will be awarded to the most innovative solution for the improvement of quality of life with a tri-part focus on Nutrition, Environment and Women. The Eco Challenge 9.0 is an environmental innovation program created by PepsiCo and YABT, with the support of the OAS and the sponsorship of CBC in Central America, and Postobón in Colombia. The program seeks to identify, recognize, reward and promote the development of business solutions that are innovative, sustainable and viable, in order to reduce the impact of industry on the environment.
TIC Americas and Eco-Challenge have established themselves as a hemispheric platform for business support and development, offering, among other things: virtual training, business resources, mentoring and access to a growing community of entrepreneurs and business development professionals.
"Look at TIC Americas and Eco-Challenge not only as a means to launch your project, but also as an opportunity to scale it up, capitalize on it and be able to depend on international networks of support..." -- YABT Executive President Luis Viguria.
Registered teams will have until December 1, 2017 to present their business or project plan, market validation, and video (among other requirements according to the award category) in order to qualify for the semifinals stage where a selective international jury will elect the best proposals to classify in face-to-face Finals. These will be held in mid-April 2018 in Lima, Peru, as part of the Fifth Forum of Youth of the Americas, official activity of the VIII Summit of the Americas.
"Thanks to the partners of TIC Americas and Eco-Challenge, today we announce that we are able to continue to support the dreams of our youth who wish to become entrepreneurs ... We invite other organizations to join the program, and to support the participation of youth in the VIII Summit of the Americas," Viguria said in closing.
Here at YABT we continue to support youth entrepreneurship in the Americas, and we invite public and private entities as well as international organizations to join TIC Americas 2018 as partners and sponsors at the next Summit of the Americas in Peru.
