Washington DC, January 15th, 2017 - The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) has announced that registration for the 2016 Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas) ant the environmental category, Eco Challenge, will be extended until January 31 of 2017 at 11:59 pm Washington, DC time.
For the second year in a row, Banreservas, the Bank of the Dominicans, will award the "CREE Banreservas" prize within the national category "TIC Americas Dominican Republic". The winner will be the endeavor with the highest impact and innovation level in the country. For this reason, we are extending the registration deadline for more entrepreneurs to compete in this new special category.
We invite entrepreneurs between 18 and 34 years old who are citizens of one of 34 Member States of the OAS to register their economic, social or environmental business proposals that promote the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at www.ticamericas.net. There is over US$ 50,000 in prizes: seed capital, mentoring, international visibility, market access and various opportunities from joining the YABT network of entrepreneurs.
In addition of this recently announced category, young people can participate in the Startup Challenge and Eco-Challenge categories as well.Young people can register their business ideas or startups that propose solutions to social, economic and environmental challenges faced by Latin America and Caribbean Countries in two categories: Startup Challenge and Eco-Challenge.
This category is focused on the orange, purple and green economies. This category seeks to strengthen the potential of young people in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) through innovation and entrepreneurship.
Orange Economy: For the purpose of this competition, the orange economy refers to all activities that intertwine in order to produce goods and services of added value in the creative industries, supported by collaborative economies and other activities based on innovation and intellectual property.
Purple Economy: For the purpose of this competition, the purple economy refers to those activities within cultural-related industries that offer adaptable solutions within the context of diversity and traditional local customs.
Green Economy: For the purpose of this competition, the green economy refers to environment friendly business models that promote the efficient use of resources and materials in the life cycles of their products and/or services.
YABT, PepsiCo, CBC, and Postobón support business projects that contribute to environmental sustainability (SDG#7). In this edition, the Eco-Challenge category is looking for young entrepreneurs that have viable and scalable solutions which are ready for investment under the following eco-challenges:
1. Eco-Challenge Sustainable Agriculture
2. Eco-Challenge PET and BOPP Recycling and Collection
3. Eco-Challenge Access to Water
