Due to the current context that the world is going through with the COVID-19 pandemic, and following the international guidelines designated by the World Health Organization, and with the aim of protecting the integrity of all the people and institutions involved in the Finals of TIC Americas, it is decided that the Finals of TIC Americas in the current edition will be held in a Virtual Format.

The Virtual Finals of TIC Americas 2020 will take place during the week of June 29 to July 3

During the week, we will have the evaluations of the Finalists, in a closed format, with the Judging Committee, a Demo Day, where the Finalists will present their projects to an international audience, and the much anticipated Award Ceremony.  The Demo Day and the ceremony will be transmitted through different digital channels.  Likewise, we will have the opportunity to host international experts who will provide us open plenary sessions to the public on the most relevant topics not only on the agenda of entrepreneurship, innovation and development, but also on how to adapt to this new reality that everyone faces due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Highlighting the importance of youth participation in hemispheric processes and public policy advocacy, YABT will organize the Youth Dialogue of the Americas, where young spokespersons will develop and present the final declaration to the OAS authorities and representatives of governments and international organizations. It will undoubtedly be a week where ideas, international cooperation, and the future of entrepreneurship will connect with each other to bring solutions where they are needed in every corner of the continent.

"TIC Americas 2020 has been a process that even in the most difficult times for our nations, has connected international experts, entrepreneurs, universities and many other actors, with young people who have not stopped surprising us with their creativity, impetus and spirit to give our region and society a better future. It has been an honor for me to be part of this process. –stated Eduardo Elias, Program Officer of YABT.

This edition of TIC Americas was made possible through the cooperation of the Organization of American States, PepsiCo Bebidas Latinoamérica, the international experts who supported the process as mentors, experts and judges, as well as all the partner organizations that supported the program during the entire process.

A special recognition to all the young people who participated in this edition, and especially those who qualified for the Final phase.  In addition, we thank all the entrepreneurs who completed the process and who did not qualify for the Finals this year, and we encourage them to continue working on their projects and participate in the next edition of TIC Americas.

A special thanks to the evaluation committee, who, even during the challenging and uncertain times of COVID-19, demonstrated their commitment to entrepreneurship and the youth in the region, by contributing in their role in an extraordinary way.  Thank you to experts who shared their insights and experiences during the YABT Bootcamp training sessions as well.  This complete collaboration and support definitely add value to the development of the entrepreneurs throughout the region.

“To the many participants of the Caribbean Innovation Competition (CIC) 8.O, thank you for sharing your brilliant ideas.  Your solutions will provide leading roles for climate change throughout the Caribbean.  We encourage you to build on the feedback received and not to stop now.  To all our experts who supported us and continue to support this process - a heartfelt thank you!” –highlighted Akarda Ventour, Caribbean Program Manager of YABT.

In the coming days, we will be announcing the Finalists of the Eco-Challenge 11.0category, which is a special category of sustainable innovation of TIC Americas, and which is a reality thanks to the cooperation of PepsiCo Bebidas Latinoamérica.
