Washington DC, November 29th, 2016 - The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) participates as a special guest in the International Meeting of "Policies for Youth and Inequalities in Latin America", which takes place in Mexico City from November 29th to December 1st, 2016.
The meeting, where YABT’s Executive Director Valerie Lorena is participating, is organized by the United Nation’s DESA Division for Social Policy and Development - DSPD, Sedesol, International Youth Organization for Iberoamerica - OIJ, the Government of Mexico City, Cepal and UNESCO MEXICO.
This event will showcase good practices in youth related planning and programming, and will present national and regional projects linked to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, whose impacts are directly linked to the improvement of the young people’s living conditions in the region. It will be a platform for reflection and proposal seeking in the areas of poverty, health, education, decent jobs, peace, and justice, all of which are part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG´s).
During these three days, the objective is to link local and regional dynamics into the global context, acknowledging as a challenge the intergenerational and intra-generational inequalities present in Latin America. This is a space for dialogue about public policies and actions, good practices and generation of knowledge, with a focus on the inequalities reduction. The meeting also serves as an exchange of best practices and search for innovative solutions on poverty, health, education, decent work and peace and justice.
The meeting brings together Ministries of Social Development, youth leaders, civil society, academia, international organizations and youth leaders. Participants will share technical data and results on youth policies and programs from regional, national and sub-national perspectives.
